“Nada há neste mundo que seja intraduzível” – Jorge de Sena e a tradução de poesia

This article aims to examine Jorge de Sena’s understanding of poetry translation and the criteria that govern his activity as a translator. Based on a detailed analysis of the various reflections that his translation-based activities motivated, be it as a translator of verse or as a voracious reader of poetry, we try to show how the understanding of his craft as a translator is crucial to the understanding of his poetic project. We argue that the Senian theory on translation, inseparable from the general conception of his entire work, tends to reject strangeness and to favour fidelity, often understood as naturalization of the translated poem.
